The arrival of HTML5 offers great flexibility for developers. Combined with CSS3, HTML5 is a powerful tool for creating high-performance web applications, but also adds some benefits for SEO Optimization.

HTML5 brings new features that will change the SEO techniques. Comparing to the previous version, HTML5 adds a new dimension in the description of the content.

In the years that preceded the advent of HTML5, developers used the “Plugins” such as Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight to add audio, video and graphics. Generally, sites that used the “Plugins” suffered from poor results in search engines since these robots explorers site were unable to index this content type.

Today, HTML5 allows you to index multimedia content, such as menus, video and audio elements with the new HTML5 tags. The new tags Articles allow Google and other search engine to dissect the content of pages into relevant pieces that will thoroughly analyze the relevance of these articles.

These new HTML5 tags offers new page functions that facilitate the understanding of your content for search engines. This is beneficial for Seo. In addition, it is understood that these changes will have a significant impact on the organic results.

Elements that should not be overlooked:

Micro-data

The HTML5 includes the fifth revision of HTML5, CSS3 and a series of JavaScript API. Together, these technologies enable the creation of complex applications that previously could not be created only for desktop platforms (Desktop).

This is where micro-data arrives and fundamentally changes the way we find content on the web.

Micro-data are elements of HTML5 that add more semantic and contextual to the existing content on a page information. In doing so, the micro-data, like search engines, can get more information about the content of the pages.

Segmentation of Pages

The segmentation of pages has been improved, it is now defined in several parts: navigation menus, headers, footers and links, etc… Treated as separate inputs, developers can tell the search engines how to segment the page, this is where HTML5 comes to the rescue.

The “Article” tag

For SEO, the new “Articles” tag is definitely the best addition. This tag allows webmasters to mark separate entries on your site, blogs or magazines. This item tag significantly reduced the “DIV-ITIS” disease: the use of “div” tags. It is expected that the search engines are looking much more quickly on the text inside the tag “Articles”

The “Section” tag

The new “section” tag  adds another segment, according to reports, that will allow an element to have its own title in HTML. Like the “Articles” tag, we expecte that the search engines will be more attentive to that section’s content.

The “Header” tag

Considered a blessing for SEO experts, the new “Section” tag brings the promise of flexibility. Similar to the <H1>, the “Header” tag can contain <H1> <H2>, <H3>, and a plurality of text and links. That is why it is considered a gold mine for SEO.

Finally

The advantage of using HTML5 is that it can make your site much faster, because you use less code and JavaScript features, both of which had to be implemented with HTML only. HTML5 is an exciting development, which allows a great improvement to exploit the changes that have also occurred in the algorithm. This is the perfect time to convert your site in HTML5 and take advantage of new features for your SEO.
